Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 July 2026 · Draft pending legal review
Academic Guardian ("we", "us") is an Australian service. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information, consistent with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What we collect
- Account information — name, email address, sign-in details.
- Waitlist information — the email address you submit to our waitlist.
- Submitted writing — documents and text you submit for analysis, and the reports generated from them.
- Billing information — handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Usage data — logs and analytics needed to operate, secure and improve the Service.
2. How we use it
To provide the Service (analysing writing and generating your reports), operate your account and subscription, respond to support requests, secure the platform, and send service communications. We do not sell personal information. We do not use your submitted writing to train generative AI models.
3. Overseas storage and disclosure (APP 8)
Your data, including submitted writing and account information, is stored with our cloud infrastructure providers in the United States. By using the Service you should be aware that overseas recipients may not be subject to the Australian Privacy Principles, and Australian privacy law may not apply to information once it is held overseas. We take reasonable steps to protect information wherever it is processed: encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and contractual data-processing terms with our providers. Our core providers include cloud database/backend hosting (United States), content-delivery and edge infrastructure, email delivery, and payment processing (Stripe).
4. Students and minors
Where the Service is used in an educational context, we handle student writing with particular care: it is processed only to produce the requested analysis, is never sold, and is never used to train generative AI models. Users under 16 should use the Service via a parent, guardian or institution.
5. Retention and deletion
Documents and reports are retained while your account is active so your history works. You can delete documents at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated personal information by emailingsupport@academicguardian.ai. We delete or de-identify data within a reasonable period after verified requests, except where law requires retention.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256 with our infrastructure providers). Access is restricted and logged. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 provider.
7. Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to or correction of your personal information at any time. If you have a privacy concern, contactsupport@academicguardian.ai and we will respond promptly. If you are unsatisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
8. Changes
We will post updates to this policy here and note the revision date above; material changes will be notified by email or in-product notice.
